Last week, George Osborne revealed the government’s Autumn Statement, Sales and Marketing firm Source Marketing Direct look at what the chancellor’s announcement could mean for the UKs growing population of small businesses.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne announced the much anticipated 2014 Autumn Statement last week. The statement is part of two yearly statements that the HM Treasury makes to Parliament upon publication of economic forecasts and for small business owners it would appear that the forecast is looking fairly promising. George Osborne announced last Wednesday that there is set to be a major review of the business rates system, designed to offer more support to smaller businesses across the UK. SMEs are also due to see an increase in support with £500 million of new bank lending which is an extension of the Funding for Lending scheme, and a pledge of £400m to extend Enterprise Capital Funds, government-backed venture capital funds investing in the UKs ever growing population of small businesses. London based sales and marketing firm Source Marketing Direct are thrilled to see the government making changes to help small business owners in the New Year, and hope that these early changes are a sign of more exciting things to come for the UKs entrepreneurs and young business talent.
In his announcement of the Autumn Statement, the Chancellor of the Exchequer claimed that the changes and proposed plans reflected and supported the UK’s entrepreneurial spirit, something source Marketing Direct whole heartedly agrees with. The UK currently has the most entrepreneurial economy in Europe and by making life a little easier for small business owners the firm are confident this will continue to be the case. The chancellor’s announcement also revealed that small businesses owners will soon be able to look forward to support and funding to help increase UK exports which could open up a host of exciting new growth opportunities for businesses looking to expand their market reach and gain global recognition.
Source Marketing Direct were also pleased to hear that businesses will not be required to pay national insurance for apprentices, with Osborne claiming that businesses that give young people a chance to better themselves deserve to be rewarded, not taxed. The firm are hopeful that this news will encourage more businesses to offer apprenticeships, internship and training opportunities in 2015, helping more young people to increase their business skills and knowledge in order to better prepare them for the realities of the business world.
